New Kontron COM Express Modules Featuring Latest Generation Intel® Processors

COMe-bKL6 and COMe-cKL6 featuring 7th Generation Intel® Core™ and Intel® Xeon® CPUs for highest performance and graphics requirements

Augsburg, Germany, February 1, 2017 – Kontron, a leading global provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today announced two new COM Express® Computer-on-Modules (COMs). The Kontron COMe-bKL6 and the COMe-cKL6 are based on the COM Express Standard Form Factors basic (COMe-bKL6) and compact (COMe-cKL6). Despite their small dimensions (basic: 125 x 95 mm; compact: 95 x 95 mm), both modules offer full performance in an extremely compact design with the integration of the newest Intel® Core™ and Intel® Xeon® processors (code name Kaby Lake). Like all current Kontron COMs and motherboards, the COMe-bKL6 and the COMe-cKL6 are part of the Kontron Security Line.

The COMe-bKL6 and COMe-cKL6 modules are part of a new generation of high-performance Kontron COM modules. Integrated Intel HD Graphics can supports up to three independent displays with up to 4k resolution, enabling developers to create applications that provide excellent user experience and innovative ways of user interaction. The broad range of available CPUs from extremely efficient Celeron® to high-performing Intel Core i7 or Xeon processors gives users full flexibility to choose the optimal solution that matches their operational requirements.

Both modules support Intel`s brand-new Intel® Optane™ technology, a non-volatile memory solution based on the innovative 3D XPoint™ memory technology. It works up to 1,000 times faster than a NAND flash memory and massively reduces latencies – a strong advantage in application scenarios such as high-performance computing or image processing in the medical sector. The COMe-bKL6 supports up to 32GB DDR4 memory; its COMe-cKL6 counterpart up to 24GB DDR4 memory.

Kontron Approtect, a hardware-based security solution, comes as a standard in both modules, making Kontron the first embedded computing provider in the world to offer fully integrated security features on its Computer on Modules (COMs) and motherboards.

The Kontron COMe-bKL6 and COMe-cKL6 are capable of operating within the typical temperature range in industrial environments, from 0°C to 60°C. Additionally, Kontron offers COMe-bKL6 variants for especially demanding applications in the temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
